Give Me the Scissors

George W. Bush is an ASS! This story from Yahoo.com:

The White House put government agencies on notice this month that if President Bush is reelected, his budget for 2006 may include spending cuts for virtually all agencies in charge of domestic programs, including education, homeland security and others that the president backed in this campaign year.

...the cuts are politically sensitive, targeting popular programs that Bush has been touting on the campaign trail.  The Education Department; a nutrition program for women, infants and children; Head Start; and homeownership, job-training, medical research and science.

The administration has widely touted a $1.7 billion increase in discretionary funding for the Education Department in its 2005 budget, but the 2006 guidance would pare that back by $1.5 billion.

The $78 million funding increase that Bush has touted for a homeownership program in 2005 would be nearly reversed in 2006 with a $53 million cut.

<MAD>Why the hell would we elect this doorknob for 4 more years?  Four more years of War, paranoid security threats, shitty foreign relations, and, on top of all that, spending cuts?  Why are we taking money away from things like educating our kids and giving billions and BILLIONS of dollars to the Iraqi's in the form of new roads, electricity plants, and government? dkoildrum.gif

The only "successful" platform Bush has to run on now is how well he's protected the US and now he's even taking money from his own homeland security people?!?!?

What kind of sick-minded assclown would take money from babies, children and new homeowners to hand it over to wealthy corporate jerks.  How about eliminating the tax cuts for people making over $200,000/year and making these people pay their fair share for the protections they enjoy?  (And if you don't make $200,000 a year, you have no room to say otherwise.)

Education, nutrition, and the like are short-term needs.  Bush's cronies state giving tax money back to companies Enron and WorldCom will result in offshoring, which will result in cheaper goods, which the unemployed will be able to purchase...in several years.  Meanwhile, malnutrition is something needy children shouldn't have to "enjoy" in the long-run while waiting for their food to be cheaper.</MAD>
