Shrek 2
I finally saw Shrek 2 yesterday. As a huge fan of the first movie, both from enterainment and technological standpoints, I had big expectations for this film. Fortunately, the people at Dreamworks had not let me down.Despite all the reviews saying the movie was a poor follow-up to the original, I thought this a very fitting sequel. The imagery was simply awesome. There were several scenes where I gasped at how beautiful the blades of grass, the flowing streams, and the flipping hair were excellently rendered. Shrek, Donkey, and the cast were much more detailed and the "transformed" Fiona was exceptionally realistic.
As for the story, if I had to make a negative point, I'd have to say it was a touch less "charming" than the original. I'm not trying to be Roger Ebert here but this point of view will probably change once I get the DVD and watch it a few dozen times. Otherwise, I laughed at Donkey's antics and "awwed" at Puss in Boots' sad eyes. It was an excellent film, period! I can't wait for #3 to arrive in my theater.
On another note, Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 is due in theaters this friday. Do your civic duty by watching the film and further confirm (or finally realize) how much of an idiot the man is who runs our country!
