Remote Controller
The controller for the new Nintendo Revolution, which won't be called "Revolution" much longer, is a pretty nifty piece of thought. I knew it would be different but I was still surprised by it.Based on reviews of people who actually tried it, the "remote controller", as some call it, makes them anxious to see what games it'll spawn. The reasons behind such a "weird" controller can be found in an essay highlighted by Penny Arcade. The types of games possible for such a setup may be what Nintendo needs to beat down the popularity of the PS3 and XBox 360 but more importantly to bring some interesting and FUN games back into the industry.
Of course, those idiots out there who never physically saw the new hardware and seem to be content playing FPSs for the rest of their lives could do nothing but bitch about how dumb Nintendo was for doing something so bizarre. The day after the annoucement, I watched G4TV on G4, a channel I watch for the sole reason that it's the only channel mostly devoted to video games. The hosts of the show and some idiot named Seanbaby did nothing but complain about the new controller. They all seem to claim being "hardcore gamers" but couldn't wrap their simple minds around the idea some people are sick of playing sequel and copycat games. I used to be on the fence about G4 but now I really don't think I'll spend much time there...and to be honest, it was pretty much the only channel I could justify for having digital cable. Now, there really isn't anything above channel 70 I find interesting. But how much TV sucks is a whole different topic.
Anyway, I'm anxious to see more from Nintendo and created the wallpaper above from their website to tide me over. Enjoy.
