New and Old

There's a new show that's captured my attention.  Back to You is a sitcom on Fox about a couple of news anchors in a Pittsburgh station and the hijinks the ensue between their "chemistry" and the wacky antics of their supporting actors.  I don't know how well it's doing in ratings but I for one hope that it is successful.  Right away, when the show starts with the "Taped in front of a live studio audience" you get the feel that this is one of the "old fashioned" sitcoms.  The type of show that has been pretty rare since reality TV took over the airways.  I personally like Kelsey Grammer and find the combination of him and "the wife from Everybody Loves Raymond" (didn't watch that show much) to be quite enjoyable.

This other show I'm hooked to is an unfortunate affair.  Firefly is some kind of science fiction/western that is a lot of fun to watch via Netflix.  The unfortunate part is that there was only one season to the show so it will be a short lived affair.  There is the Serenity movie that followed the show but it looks like that's it.

As long as I brought up Netflix, I tried out their "movie watchin' over the interwebs" thing and I like it.  They have a subset of about 5,000 movies that you can watch on your browser.  Since I was working on something else and just wanted to play something, I chose Heroes season 1 and was amazed that there were few hiccups or problems with watching the film over the Internet.  We are on the 3 DVD plan which comes with 17 hours of this service a month.  That's more than enough to keep me happy while waiting for that next Firefly DVD.
