Crunchable
I found these sites on this site: Crunchies This is some sort of WWW awards akin to the Webby Awards. These sites are pretty neat and much like the Kayak in the previous post.
- Songza
- "the music search engine & internet jukebox" Type in a song or band and listen to music right that second. I'm not sure how the RIAA feels about this but I think they're money grubbing old men barely more evolved than the amoeba.
- Netvibes
- This appears to be some kind of personal Internet portal. It seems similar to iGoogle but maybe with more content.
- Geni
- "Geni is a tool for understanding and staying in touch with your family." An Internet based family tree. I'm not sure if they can find family members or not but this does seem interesting for those interested in lineage.
- Instructables
- "Instructables is a web-based documentation platform where passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others." I don't think I can add to that.
- Yelp
- If you ever had a great meal at some out-of-the-way dive or had burned pizza at the local Pizza Hut, you can go here to review them, hotels, realtors, etc.
- Kongregate
- An online gaming destination. I know...another one.
- Duels
- Some sort of web based WoW-type duel...er...deal. I haven't signed up (because it looks like a black hole for spare time) but it "looks" neat.
Joost- hulu
- Now, I haven't tried either of these but with their client software, you can apparently watch any kind of TV show...for free. Catch 22? Update: Joost stinks. I know I'm running Vista but I have a bitchin' fast PC and a similarly fast broadband connection and the thing was crashing on me left and right. Ugh.
Try them out. They seem neat. If you feel like voting for them within the next 13 hours, check the link at the start of this thing.
