Out of the Pool

I'm sad to say that the loss of Futurama to adult swim has seriously hurt their appeal for me.  I don't know if I'm alone on this but I finished almost every night watching Futurama.  It was a welcome routine which often resulted in watching whatever else followed as well.  This was mainly Family Guy and other adult swim shows: Tom Goes to the Mayor, Saul and the Mole Men, etc.  I enjoyed these shows but not nearly as much.

Family Guy is a good show but I think it's return to TV is owed heavily to Futurama's gateway-drug like qualities.  What I mean is that now, I don't find myself tuning in to adult swim just to watch Family Guy or whatever else is on because it might just be crap, honestly.  Futurama is a smarter show compared on every level to Family Guy and should have gotten the 2nd chance on TV instead.  Fox sucks for screwing up Futurama in the first place and ignoring ratings it brought to adult swim.

I also think that Comedy Central screwed up big time by taking Futurama and airing it at stupid times.  I think it's on 2 or 3 times a week at 8pm or some dumb Fox-like times.  If they put it on at 9:30, the same time it was on adult swim, I'd be watching Comedy Central every night before bed.  Could you imagine Futurama, The Daily Show and the Colbert Report?  That'd be a 90 minute block to contend with.

Oh well.  I still have my DVDs.
