Firefox Extensions
The great thing about Firefox (one of them) is the ability to add extensions (or add-ons) to beef it up in some way. I have a handful of them which I use on every install but finding them anymore is a chore. I like that Firefox "improves" their extension website but this might be easier:
- Download Statusbar
- Places your downloads in a statusbar which is more visible than the Downloads window when you want to continue surfing.
- Extended Statusbar
- Another statusbar that shows the progress of the current page load. This is helpful when your Internets aren't moving as fast as they should.
- IE Tab
- For those rare instances when you need IE, this extension will allow you to view pages in that other browser without leaving the warm embrace of Firefox.
- Undo Closed Tabs Button
- If you've ever closed a tab on accident, this will allow you to resurrect it or other's in your history's sorted past. Besides this, Ctrl-Shift-T will do the same thing.
- Print Preview
- I don't know why this hasn't been added to Firefox already.
- QuickProxy
- I use this to flip my proxy on or off when jumping between my employer's public and private networks.
- Adblock Plus
- Stop those irritating banner or flash ads from assaulting your eyes.
