Mission Accomplished

Congratulations, Mr. Bush!

The photo on your left shows one of the many Iraq POWs held at Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad.  However, as first stated in the US by CBS' 60 Minutes, many of the prisoners have been abused by the American and British soldiers charged with guarding these men.  The graphic pictures, leaked by a horrified US soldier, show the humiliating and disturbing acts of cruelty done toward these prisoners .

This man was stripped naked, covered with a hood and sheet, wired by the genitals, made to stand on a box, and told he would be electrocuted if he fell off.  Other pictures show the men naked and piled on top of one another while US servicemen smile and gesture a "thumbs up".  Some were made to perform sexual acts while others were physically and sexually abused by the "well trained" men and women who are supposed to protect us.  Granted, the atrocities Saddam performed in Abu Ghraib are more gruesome, in my opinion, but not much more.

Not only does this make the US even more hated by Arab people, it makes our soldiers look like a bunch of stupid college fraternity drop-outs.  Guess who's President of this fraternity?  That's right.  The man on the right is the "commander in chief." This makes Bush ultimately responsible for the actions of his army, including the torture of these prisoners...and the most he could say about it is "shameful and appalling".

Now I've read some websites saying these Iraqi men deserved it...they deserved to be brutalized!?!? ...because (a) they're prisoners, (b) they killed US soldiers/mercenaries, or (c) we had to be tough on them otherwise we'd look weak.  I'm not saying these men were 100% innocent but these are dumb answers.  Basically this makes us no better than (a) a crooked warden, (b) a revenge monger, or (c) a testosterone junkie

I could go on and on here but I think the point has been made.
